I disagree. The sad thing in the west is we are slowly devaluing marriage. My husband and I worked together to save and have a debt free wedding. What we would have spent for eating out or simple luxuries we set the money aside. For us it was a religious promise in front of our friends and family and quite possibly the only time we would have those same people in the same location together. Every moment was perfect and still today family or friends bring up how special it was. We couldn’t put a price tag on starting our future together. The key is to know your budget and do it debt free… why is okay to put down 70k on a truck that could be totaled tomorrow and not a marriage that is intended to last forever? Especially if you have the means.

I had a total of $200 in my bank account on the day my wife and I got married after church service one Sunday afternoon, in front of a Pastor and his wife as witnesses, and I spent $83 of the $200 I had for our 2 couples' rings. I took her to the zoo for our honeymoon to see Panda bears, and then after I went to work that night, leaving her in a weekly rental studio as our starting living place, which she never ever complained about. We've been married for 23 years with 3 kids who are amazing and a blessing. We are still going strong because the Lord has blessed us with love each day. Now, my wife is an attorney, and I work as a professional pilot.
We can go even further and just admit that modern women are a waste of cash altogether.

U.S. COURTS OBLITERATED MARRIAGE . WHY TF WOULD YOU GET MARRIED ? IF IT FAILED THE MAN LOSES EVERYTHING . FKTHTSHT
We paid $125 got married at a beautiful park with immediate family and friends and had a large BBQ on a big smoker out in the county at my dads house people brought tents or slept in their cars we woke up the next morning with people passed out in the middle of the yard! Good times and good food around great people! I think total with food and drinks we were at $800-$1000 and that included two kegs along with some family members who brought large dishes of pasta salads, deserts and helped with the set up of tables and decorations thanks to everyone who helped best wedding and reception anyone could ask for and now that we did this over 15 years ago more people in our family that are getting married are doing the same thing because nobody has to drive home drunk everyone had a great time and the next day people could take the leftovers home with them if I had it to do over I wouldn't change a thing!
