Acclaimed actress Helen Mirren is giving buyers another chance to own a piece of her own illustrious Hollywood history—this time with a multimillion-dollar discount.

The Academy Award-winning star and her husband, director Taylor Hackford, have relisted their longtime Hollywood Hills estate for just a touch under $13 million after completing an extensive renovation at the storied property.

It marks the latest chapter in what has been a yearslong struggle for the couple to sell their enormous abode, which they initially listed for $18.5 million in 2021—while also offering it up as a $45,000-a-month rental.

That first listing did not bring about the Hollywood ending that Mirren, 80, and Hackford, 81, had hoped for. So they spent the next five years steadily decreasing their asking price in hopes of landing a buyer.

Finally, having dropped their ask to $12.99 million in June 2025, the duo decided to pivot in their strategy, pulling the seven-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom property from the market to carry out a refresh throughout its interior.

Now, it has returned to the market for the same $12.99 million asking price—but with a stunning collection of new listing photos that fully showcase its reimagined interiors and its grounds.

Tucked away on approximately 6.5 private acres, the estate, which is listed with Jonas Heller and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency, spans around 10,199 square feet and traces its roots to 1911, when it was built for silent-film star Dustin Farnum.

Over the decades, the home was passed through the hands of only a select few notable owners, including film producer and journalist Mark Hellinger and Gail Patrick, the actress and producer behind the original “Perry Mason” TV series.

“A once-in-a-generation Hollywood Hills estate, this extraordinary 6.5-acre gated compound offers exceptional privacy, breathtaking panoramic views, and an unrivaled legacy of ownership,” the listing reads.

Mirren and Hackford purchased the property in 1986 and spent decades restoring and preserving its Old Hollywood charm while adding elegant upgrades.

The latest transformation includes extensive upgrades throughout the grounds and interiors.

Luxury staging firm Vesta Home reimagined the living spaces with a design that pays tribute to the estate’s glamorous history, incorporating vintage-inspired furnishings, rich earth tones, layered silk rugs, dramatic black accents, and oversized black-and-white Hollywood photography.

Brett Baer, Co-Founder of Vesta Home, told Realtor.com®: “Every house tells you what it wants to be, and this one didn’t need a lot of noise. It already had incredible character, so our job was really to layer in the right pieces and let the house speak for itself. We wanted people to walk in and feel like it had always looked this way. Nothing feels forced, and every antique, old Hollywood reference, and furnishing was chosen to support the home instead of competing with it.”

The outdoor entertaining areas were also refreshed with new landscaping and elegant iron furniture that complements the home’s timeless aesthetic.

“Following a series of thoughtful updates to the home, including significant enhancements to the landscaping, Vesta Home designed and staged the interiors to celebrate the estate’s historic character while showcasing how it lives for today’s buyer,” the company said in a statement.

“A carefully edited approach creates a fresh perspective that feels elegant, timeless, and true to the home’s legacy.”

The sprawling compound comes with a detached three-bedroom guesthouse, an office with an apartment above the garage, and expansive terraces.

Due to its illustrious past, the home has been equipped with impressive security systems, including an alarm and cameras.

Airy and light, the decor is both California and traditional in style, with French doors in the living room, multiple fireplaces, and warm wood flooring throughout.

Outside, there is a large swimming pool and mature trees provide exceptional privacy.

With its combination of celebrity ownership, rich entertainment history, and unusually large parcel of land in the Hollywood Hills, the estate represents one of the area’s rare legacy properties.

“This is a truly rare opportunity to acquire one of the Hollywood Hills’ most historically significant and private estates,” says Heller. “Properties of this caliber, with such a rich legacy and expansive acreage, seldom become available.”
