“This is just another step to try to compromise the Fed’s independence,” Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari says about National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett’s comments about a New York Fed study on tariffs.

Hasset is an incompetent liar, like this entire Trump Gestapo machine. A red hat on a follower signifies you have lost all rational decision making.
Legitimate Fed: “Let the Data speak.”
Trump?: “Let my data cheat.”
Trump and his attacks on the Fed are the reason I started buying gold (GLD) a year ago. TY Trump/Maga for making my brokerage account great again. Dumb asses.
Yes, so good to hear the Fed speak the truth. Reason why we have an independent Fed; for just the way this Administration rolls!
Kevin Hassett is a smug douchebag. Why would anyone care what he has to say.
And just think Hassett was up for chair of the FED?!! WTF!!!
Hasset has got his nose so far up Trump’s butt – what a sad spineless man.
Fed independence 😂
You serve congress and can be abolished with a word
The fed focuses on areas of management, not based on politics, they don't do things based on "hope", and throwing sh*t in the air
only a felon would appoint boot lickers like Bessent Hasset and the rest .
Having trust in our institutions is paramount. So far we've lost trust in the employment numbers. If the Fed goes the same way, our money will be worthless.
Hasset is a moron
good commentary but he doesn't realize that trump is god….
Hasset is fascist, a liar a trump tool and boot licker, a denier of facts, a promoter of the fascist authoritarian overthrow, he's a traitor his attempt to punish these folks is a part of the bigger plan of The extremey evil subversive authoritarian violent republican trump party of traitors
Moments like these corrode the credibility of America.
I would like to thank Hassett for revealing himself as just another Trumpian sycophant. "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
Government for the people, by the people, has become government for the right, by the right. The Authoritarian will manipulate history, emotions, and objective reality to maintain absolute power.
Government for the people, by the people is dead. Project 2025 has created government for the right, by the right. Project 2025 is the enemy. Know Project 2025.
It's already over. After the coming great depression ll…we can rebuild. Save every dollar for the fire sale…its coming. Dred
I am impressed with how much Trump learned from Kim Jong-un in their meetings first in Singapore and then in Hanoi, VN about how to implement an authoritarian system in place! But Trump earns kudos (with help from the US Congress, and US Supreme Court) for doing so to a country long accustomed to checks & balances in its institutions, unlike North Korea! Hallmark of such system is to persecute and silent any dissent to the official policy.
Are we still acting like everything's okay?
Creeps me out how Hassett can smile and lie through his teeth so easily.
Hasset is almost as bad as Nutlik. Bunch of clowns in this administration.
Agree 100 percent
Anything, and anyone, that crosses the crooked Trump administration, needs to be "disciplined"? Trump and his administration need to be in jail!
The US now getting poor information because the admin is making up their own numbers. Very hard to invest on false info and manupilated numbers
The tariffs are illegal. The president has no power to levy tariffs. THAT is the starting point. The rest is arguing about which chairs to throw off the Titanic first.
"Anybody that disagrees with me will never be the Fed Chairman" – TRUMP
Welcome to north korea/ nazi germany
It's been my observation that getting owned by an idiot turns you into one. Maybe ask Rudy, pillow Mike, Mike Pence, Jeff Sessions………………..
When the clueless collide
Americans are bearing 90% of the economic burden of Trump's tariffs. That's not hyperbole, that's the truth!
Data is a four letter word to this administration…
Great
Feds independence….every last American who says anything negative about Trump, or the truth…..they are now shut down just like Russia
Hassett is useful idiot for Trump! Something is not right about him!
Thank you
10. Aggressive (and Questionable) Business Practices
Trump wasn’t above employing aggressive tactics, including lawsuits, to get his way. He’d sue critics, contractors, and even governments if it helped him save face or avoid accountability. Not to mention, marketing hyperbole and misleading statements were staples of his business model, leaving many consumers disappointed.
So, tell me again how Donald J. Trump is good for business when he can’t even successfully or ethically run his own?
Do we honestly need more examples of thumps fascism ?
he is exactly right about the incentives of partisan demigods
Meh. Trump sux but so does the Fed Reserve. The Federal Reserve is the least independent "agency" In the world. It's comprised of bankers and all their little elite friends with the express interest in printing as much money as possible for themselves while screwing over the rest of the United States.
Okay the Fed has to be independent. We got that but lets be honest you guys have been wrong about tariffs since the beginning
😂😂😂😂😂 Kashkari thinks frauding tax payed by a billion dollars is normal… if thats normal.. what type of actual conclusions and thought processes are happening in those offices….
Maybe we just need a few more of those non-political 50 basis point cuts then.
Every informed, educated, economic student KNOWS that Hassett Is NOT a renowned economist, he has never had a job outside the Far Right Networks. He has not published, he has not been asked to speak ANYWHERE outside the Far right Bubble. He's not worthy of discussion he's a partisan , unqualified hack.
Trump and Vance have to go before they destroy America for good. The research itself: The paper was written by Mary Amiti, Chris Flanagan, Sebastian Heise, and David E. Weinstein, and concluded that "U.S. firms and consumers continue to bear the bulk of the economic burden of the high tariffs imposed in 2025." UPI Notably, similar findings have been echoed by economists at Harvard, the University of Chicago, the Kiel Institute, and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
Trump is a perfect example of why the Fed must remain independent of politics, particularly the executive branch.
Ron Vara did all the studies needed to determine Trump's economic policies…… Ron Vara is Peter Navarro. LOL it's one big grift!
